There are always people ready to work hard to do good, and being around them makes you feel happier at work.
We were reminded of this repeatedly in 2025, when TOA Global employees supported volunteering and relief work projects in our communities.
Much has been said about Gen Z, who were 13-28 years old in 2025, being “the loneliest generation.”
But they’re also incredibly generous, ready to offer their energy, resources, and time to help others—as we repeatedly saw among our teammates, the biggest group of whom are Gen Z.
Winners of The Spark Talent Competition in December 2025 won ₱50,000 per group in TOA Global Clark, Manila, and Tarlac. They also earned a grant of ₱30,000 each for a nongovernment or community organization of their choice.
Our team in Cebu decided to forgo the competition and realign the budget for prizes to support relief and outreach work instead, to help communities who were recovering from the magnitude 6.9 earthquake on September 30 and Typhoon Tino on November 5.
Looking back on 2025, we are moved by how our colleagues stepped up, again and again, to support others. Here’s a quick look at what they did.
Corporate social responsibility and community connections
Giving Gifts to the Duyan ni Maria Children’s Home
On September 27, TOA Global’s Business Services Team spent some time in the Duyan ni Maria Children’s Home in Mabalacat, Pampanga. They brought gifts and food and enjoyed games and talks with the children.
37 years of service: Started by a group of religious sisters in February 1988, Duyan ni Maria (which translates to “Mary’s Cradle”) has been providing shelter, food, clothes, health care, and education to children in distress.
Visiting Students with Special Needs in Tarlac
Also in September, a team from TOA Global Tarlac visited 60 students living with Down syndrome and special needs. They were inspired by Pure Hearts Tarlac, a community that works to raise special needs awareness.
The team brought school supplies, hygiene kits, protective kits, and treats during their visit.
Up to 5.1 million children have special needs: The Second Congressional Commission on Education reported in November 2025 that there are an estimated 5.1 million children in the Philippines who have special needs.
However, only 391,089 (or about 8%) were enrolled in public schools as of 2024-2025.
Paws-itive Vibes: Care for All Creatures
Long before the magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Cebu on September 30, some of our teammates in Cebu had planned a visit to a shelter for rescued animals in Cebu City.
They chose not to let the after-effects (and aftershocks) stop them.
Four days after the quake, on October 4, 2025, a team from TOA Global Cebu visited the Mayari Animal Rescue Organization, bringing pet food, cleaning supplies, and toys.
Compassion and public health: Efforts to care for abandoned or abused animals help lessen risks to public health and safety. These also teach people about responsible pet ownership, empathy, and compassion for all creatures.
Post-Typhoon Tino Relief Operations
On November 4 and 5, Typhoon Tino (international name: Kalmaegi) poured more than a month’s worth of rain in Cebu and Negros Island, causing rivers to overflow and flash floods to sweep across communities.
Within the first 10 days, volunteers in our Cebu team organized a relief operation that reached 150 households in Liloan and Compostela towns, two of the hardest- hit communities.
Cebu Relief Drive for Earthquake Survivors
What a busy weekend that was for our Cebu-based volunteers. On Sunday, October 5, they supported a team member-led relief drive for the earthquake survivors in the north.
They reached 165 households (more than the initial target of 96, including 16 affected team members’ families) in Medellin and San Remigio towns. TOA Global allocated ₱10,000 from the corporate social responsibility (CSR) budget for the initiative, and our Operational Excellence Team sourced an additional ₱17,000.
Individual donors from among the Team Members and Corporate Team matched that amount, for a total of ₱53,779—raised and distributed within five days of the quake.
Recovery ongoing: As of November 10, 2025, the government reported 165 dead and 502 injured because of Typhoon Tino. The typhoon destroyed more than 13,000 houses and damaged 97,000 others. The Red Cross has said it expects to spend at least nine months (or until August 2026) on reconstruction and recovery efforts in the affected communities.
Team Manila Visits the Kids at Philippine Heart Center
On November 22, a team from TOA Global Manila visited 50 young patients at the Philippine Heart Center, using donations raised during a garage sale in August.
Events Experience and Programs Specialist Melje Belvis identified the outreach event partners as the Philippine Heart Center, MAGIS Creative Spaces, and Clowning Around Manila.
She wrote about it in TOA Community, a platform where all employees can bond over shared interests outside of work—including sports, the performing arts, and advocacy.
The activity took place as part of the 10th anniversary celebration of the Manila office.

Our Team’s Volunteerism Drives
The United Nations has declared 2026 as the International Volunteer Year.
When they launched the program on December 5, 2025, UN officials called for the efforts of volunteers to be recognized and measured: “Whether through informal acts of kindness or formal programs, volunteering offers a way for everyone to contribute meaningfully to their communities.”
