Unlock Your Potential!

At TOA Global, we have a deep commitment to empowering individuals to excel in their enterprises, careers, and communities. Our global footprint stretches across Australia, New Zealand, North America, and the Philippines, supporting our global clients across the accounting, finance, and professional services industries.

As an Electrical Switchboard Estimator, you are a critical technical architect in the Australian construction and power distribution landscape. This role is specifically engineered for a high-level technical specialist with direct, hands-on experience in Australian switchboard manufacturing. You won’t just be crunching numbers; you will be designing preliminary electrical solutions—from localized kiosks to 6000A main distribution boards—ensuring every bid is technically sound, commercially competitive, and compliant with strict Australian Grid infrastructure demands. Operating directly out of our modern facility, this position is your gateway to driving major infrastructure tenders.

Your Impact

  • Technical Bid Architect: Review complex electrical project specifications, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and schematic drawings to prepare preliminary designs for switchboards, kiosks, and custom enclosures. Isolate required sub-assembly vendors to secure competitive quotations.

  • Precision Estimation: Prepare highly detailed cost calculations, material take-offs, and labor estimates utilizing proprietary corporate estimation packages, ensuring complete scope clarity during competitive bid phases.

  • Compliance & Standards Expert: Validate that all preliminary designs and manufacturing estimates strictly adhere to AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and AS/NZS 61439 (Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies) standards. Apply deep knowledge of Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) systems (up to 33kV) to safeguard grid compliance.

  • Collaborative Design & Component Selection: Partner regularly with onshore Australian Estimating and Engineering teams to conduct peer reviews of major bids. Select critical switchgear, circuit breakers, and protection components from tier-one brands (Siemens, Schneider, ABB, Terasaki, etc.) based on short-circuit metrics and continuous current ratings.

  • Project Documentation: Draft formal letters of offer and complete all required tender documentation, applying practical knowledge of sheet metal forms, IP ratings, form ratings (Form 1 to Form 4 segregation), and copper busbar configurations.

What You Bring

  • The Experience: Minimum 5 years of dedicated experience in electrical switchboard estimating, with a mandatory background working directly within an Australian switchboard manufacturing environment.

  • Technical Mastery: In-depth engineering knowledge of high-current main switchboards (up to 6000A), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) automation panels, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), Transportable Switchrooms (EEHA), and complex cable containment architecture.

  • Component Mastery: Expert familiarity with specifying and sizing components from major manufacturers like Siemens, Schneider, ABB, and Terasaki. You can design packaged, localized electrical solutions from high-level consultant concepts.

  • The Credentials: An Electrical Trade qualification (Licensed Electrician background) or a Tertiary Engineering Degree (Electrical/Power Systems). A rock-solid, demonstrable command of Australian Standards (AS3000 / AS61439).

  • The Mindset: A proactive, technical professional who brings an "A-star" level of engineering competence. You possess exceptional English communication skills, a collaborative team spirit, and the autonomy required to hit strict tender deadlines.
