We are seeking a dedicated, detail-driven Public Sector Associate to join our Government and Not-for-Profit (NFP) Audit team supporting a premier US CPA and consulting firm. You will execute external audit procedures on financial statements and internal controls, perform risk assessments, analyze financial data, and gain comprehensive exposure to public sector accounting frameworks.

 

Your Impact

  • External Audit Execution: Perform external audit testing procedures on financial statements, general ledgers, and internal control systems for governmental entities, municipalities, and non-profit organizations.

  • Data Analysis & Testing: Identify, measure, and analyze client financial data and transaction records in accordance with firm audit methodologies and regulatory standards.

  • Client Engagement & Information Gathering: Communicate directly with US client stakeholders to gather essential audit evidence, verify fund accounting documentation, and maintain organized engagement workpapers.

  • Budget & Productivity Management: Manage personal billable time against engagement budgets and learn the commercial connection between project efficiency and firm performance.

 

What You Bring

  • Education & Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's degree preferred); CPA certification or CPA eligibility with active progress toward licensure.

  • The Experience: 1 to 2 years of public accounting external audit experience, with a solid foundation in assurance procedures and audit workpaper documentation.

  • Public Sector Knowledge: Preferred working knowledge of Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS / Yellow Book), GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board) frameworks, and government/NFP risk assessment principles.

  • Core Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, eager learning mindset, positive team-oriented attitude, and excellent written and verbal English communication.
