As a Junior SMSF Accountant, you are entering one of the most specialized and sought-after niches in the Australian financial landscape. This role is designed for an aspiring expert who has already gained foundational experience in Self-Managed Superannuation Funds and is ready to accelerate their technical mastery. You will work alongside industry veterans to ensure that the retirement futures of Australian members are compliant, organized, and audit-ready.
Your Impact
Master of Fund Administration: Take charge of the essential building blocks of SMSF accounting. Process member contributions, pensions, and rollovers with high precision, ensuring that investment reconciliations are seamless and accurate.
Architect of Compliance: Prepare foundational SMSF financial statements and tax returns under the expert guidance of senior accountants. Help ensure all fund activities align with the rigorous standards of the ATO and Australian SMSF regulations.
Audit Preparation Specialist: Build the "gold standard" for workpapers. Assist in preparing documentation for external audits, ensuring that every contribution and investment movement is fully supported by accurate records.
Strategic Team Collaborator: Act as a proactive link in the compliance chain. Collaborate with senior SMSF accountants and auditors to resolve queries, ensuring that fund accounts are finalized on time and with total integrity.
What You Bring
The Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of mandatory SMSF experience within an Australian accounting firm or public practice environment.
The Credentials: A Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
Technical Foundation: A solid understanding of basic SMSF administration (contributions, pensions, rollovers) and hands-on knowledge of industry software such as BGL (Simple Fund 360), Class Super, or similar platforms.
The Mindset: A motivated professional eager to specialize in the SMSF niche. Sharp attention to detail, a team-oriented attitude, and the communication skills necessary to navigate a high-compliance international environment.
