As an Intermediate Accountant, you will work closely with our Australian clients to maintain high-integrity financial records and drive the compliance process. This role is designed for a technical professional with a solid foundation in Australian Public Practice, capable of managing everything from complex corporate actions to the preparation of financial statements for ATO lodgment. You will act as a bridge between junior staff and management, ensuring targets are met while optimizing digital workflows through smart automation and meticulous general ledger maintenance.
Your Impact
Technical Compliance & Lodgment: Lead the processing of accounts up to the Trial Balance stage and prepare comprehensive financial statements for final lodgment with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
General Ledger & Subsidiary Management: Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and reconciling transactions. Manage the transfer of entries to the general ledger and resolve complex accounting discrepancies with precision.
Comprehensive Reconciliations: Own the end-to-end reconciliation process for bank accounts, balance sheets, and monthly debtor/creditor accounts. Reconcile asset holdings and process intricate corporate actions.
Management Reporting & Projections: Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts and financial reports. Provide critical business foresight through targeted superannuation and income projections.
Process Automation: Manually match remaining transactional data while proactively creating strategic bank rules for recurring items to continuously enhance digital system efficiency.
Operational Integrity: Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by synthesizing raw account information. Protect organizational value by maintaining strict confidentiality across all sensitive financial data.
Team Synergy: Maintain open lines of communication between junior production staff and firm management to ensure all workflow targets and client compliance deadlines are consistently achieved.
What You Bring
The Experience: At least 3 years of work experience in Australian Accounting, with a mandatory background working within an Australian public practice or accounting firm.
Technical Mastery: Deep operational knowledge of Australian financial preparation, including BAS, IAS, and FBT Returns. You are highly proficient in managing full-cycle bookkeeping, AP/AR management, and Australian compliance frameworks.
The Credentials: Graduate of Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a highly related degree program.
Analytical Skills: A strong ability to analyze multi-layered account information and apply sharp critical thinking to complex ledger reconciliations and corporate actions.
Communication & Discipline: Superior written and verbal English communication skills, essential for direct collaboration with Australian stakeholders and mentoring junior team members. You bring excellent time management and a highly organized approach to handling multiple client accounts.
