As an Intermediate Accountant, you will join our specialized Australian Public Practice team, acting as a critical technical resource for a diverse client base. This role is designed for a detail-oriented professional with a strong command of the Australian Taxation Act, ready to manage end-to-end compliance for companies, trusts, and individuals. Working in a high-performance environment, you will bridge the gap between complex financial data and actionable tax solutions, ensuring all workpapers and returns meet the rigorous standards of the AU accounting landscape.
Your Impact
AU Tax & Business Services: Manage the preparation of comprehensive tax returns and financial accounts for Companies, Trusts, and Individuals. Proactively identify and attend to critical tax matters including Division 7A, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), and Capital Gains Tax (CGT).
Compliance Excellence: Prepare and maintain meticulous working papers that support professional assumptions and opinions in line with firm procedures. Execute high-level bank reconciliations and the accurate preparation of GST reconciliations and Business Activity Statements (BAS).
Operational Accountability: Drive efficiency by managing your own progress against budgets and deadlines, consistently aiming for 90% productivity. Take responsibility for drafting client bills, managing WIP levels, and supporting the firm’s debt collection efforts.
Technical Leadership: Utilize Xero and Xero Tax to prepare financial statements and manage client tax compliance. Stay ahead of legislative changes and apply your knowledge of the Australian Taxation Act to support small businesses and superannuation funds.
Administrative Stewardship: Support Managers in client service administration, including the preparation of service agreements and daily management of WIP and billing, while ensuring all timesheets are completed accurately and on time.
What You Bring
The Experience: Minimum 2 years of Australian public practice experience. You possess a proven track record in preparing AU income tax returns and financial statements for diverse entity structures.
Technical Mastery: Essential proficiency in Xero and Xero Tax. You have a solid working knowledge of Australian tax laws as they relate to small businesses, trusts, and superannuation.
The Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Commerce (Accounting major). Enrollment in or completion of the CA or CPA program is highly preferred.
The Mindset: A self-motivated professional capable of working unsupervised. You have a sound understanding of business structuring and tax compliance, backed by strong analytical and organizational skills.
