We are seeking an experienced, tech-savvy Senior Accountant to lead compliance, tax planning, and advisory deliverables for an established Australian Public Practice. In this 100% remote, client-facing role, you will prepare complex financial statements, income tax returns (companies, partnerships, trusts, sole traders, and SMSFs), BAS, FBT returns, and state payroll tax lodgments. Operating on a stable daytime schedule, you will work closely with the practice Principal to drive tax planning strategies, optimize practice workflows, and maintain exceptional client relationships.
Your Impact
Tax Compliance & Financial Reporting: Prepare annual financial statements and income tax returns for companies, partnerships, trusts, sole traders, and Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs).
Statutory Tax & State Lodgments: Prepare interim accounts for Business Activity Statements (BAS), complete Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns, and execute NSW Payroll Tax reconciliations and lodgments.
Tax Planning & Business Advisory: Conduct pre-June year-end tax planning reviews in liaison with the principal, compile quarterly management accounts with KPI analysis for key clients, and deliver ad hoc tax/business advice.
Workflow & Client Engagement: Conduct initial job reviews within two days of receipt, coordinate missing document requests, manage client billings upon engagement completion, and hit target practice billing milestones.
Technology Champion: Drive the adoption of accounting technology and software advancements to continually refine and streamline practice processes.
What You Bring
The Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Senior Accountant in Australian Public Practice, with proven experience in a front-facing, client-direct capacity.
Credentials & Degrees: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Active Xero Certification is required.
Software Mastery: Demonstrated hands-on proficiency across the practice’s tech stack: Xero, MYOB, Xero Practice Manager (XPM), Xero Tax / Xero Ledger, and BGL Corporate Solutions for SMSFs.
Technical Knowledge: Deep technical expertise in Australian tax legislation, statutory reporting, FBT, state payroll tax, SMSF compliance, and pre-June tax planning protocols.
Capabilities & Mindset: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, high customer focus, strong initiative, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client deadlines efficiently.
