We are seeking an accurate, organized Company Accountant to manage core financial reporting and accounting operations for an established Australian practice. In this role, you will take ownership of monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, Australian tax lodgments (Activity Statements and FBT), partner distribution management, and general ledger maintenance using Xero. You will serve as a vital financial controller ensuring full regulatory compliance, accurate reporting, and strong team collaboration.
Your Impact
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close: Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L and Balance Sheet), manage lease journals, maintain fixed asset registers, calculate depreciation, and perform annual financial reporting and tax distribution statements.
Tax Compliance & Statutory Lodgments: Prepare and lodge Australian Activity Statements (BAS/IAS) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns in strict adherence to compliance standards.
General Ledger & Bank Reconciliations: Perform recurring bank and GL account reconciliations, balance sheet allocations, and manage monthly/quarterly partner payment schedules.
Cash Flow & Financial Analysis: Assist with cash flow management, accounts payable/receivable monitoring, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements, including new software application rollouts.
Operational & Administrative Support: Provide key administrative support to the Accounts Payable Manager, handle weekly/monthly status reporting, update process documentation, and complete ad hoc financial tasks.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong internal group relationships, delivering consistent, reliable service and meeting all project deadlines.
What You Bring
The Experience: Prior hands-on experience in a similar company accountant or full-charge accounting role, with demonstrated expertise managing general ledgers and month-end closes. Experience with Australian accounting frameworks is strongly preferred.
Credentials & Qualifications: Degree in Accounting or formal qualification in Bookkeeping.
Software & Systems Competency: Practical experience using Xero and advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (data analysis, formulas, financial modeling).
Technical Capabilities: High accuracy in data entry, sharp attention to detail, exceptional organizational habits, and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet strict compliance deadlines.
Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with a proven ability to build positive relationships, work independently, and contribute effectively within a team environment.
