Unlock Your Potential!
At TOA Global, we are passionate about helping professionals thrive in their careers, businesses, and communities. With a global presence spanning Australia, New Zealand, North America, and the Philippines, we empower technical and accounting professionals by providing world-class opportunities and support.
As a Fire Services Designer, you will perform at the professional and technical standards of an Australian-based designer. You will be responsible for producing high-precision design drawings and documentation that ensure life safety and regulatory compliance. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented engineer or drafter who excels in the BIM environment and wants to contribute to complex commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects within the Australian construction landscape.
Your Impact
Technical Design Excellence: Produce comprehensive shop and design drawings in accordance with the National Construction Code (NCC) of Australia and relevant Australian Standards (AS 2419, AS 2118, AS 1670).
BIM Modeling: Utilize Autodesk Revit to develop models up to LOD 500, ensuring high-fidelity digital representations for construction and final as-built documentation.
Full Design Lifecycle: Participate from initial "read-in" and briefing to preparing client RFIs, bills of materials, and technical clarifications. Conduct final design reviews with the Design Manager to ensure all deliverables are "construction-ready."
Fabrication & Coordination: Prepare pipe fabrication sheets and coordinate with other subcontractors to resolve spatial clashes and technical discrepancies. Manage design submissions via Autodesk Cloud or Procore systems.
Value Engineering: Assist the project team with efficiency during construction by presenting alternative design solutions and value engineering options where appropriate.
Safety & Quality Advocacy: Adhere to strict OHS and Environmental policies, ensuring that every design not only meets technical specifications but also prioritizes the safety of the end-users and the environment.
What You Bring
The Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the fire services industry. You have a proven track record of applying Australian Standards in live project environments.
Technical Mastery: Expert knowledge of Autodesk Revit and the Autodesk Suite. You are proficient in designing fire sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, smoke detectors, and EWIS systems.
The Credentials: Tertiary Engineering qualification or a relevant trade certificate.
The Mindset: A proactive problem-solver with a high level of computer literacy. You are capable of managing workloads to meet strict deadlines and have a "high-pressure" Australian environment mindset.
Communication Prowess: Excellent English communication skills. You can effectively liaise with Project Managers, Team Leads, and external stakeholders to ensure design intent is clearly understood and executed.
Desirable Tools: Experience with Hydraulic Calculation Software, Aconex, or Procore is highly regarded.
