As a Senior Accountant, you will work closely with the client to support the business and manage complex technical workflows. This role is designed for a highly skilled professional who can operate autonomously with a sole practitioner, providing end-to-end compliance and strategic tax support for a diverse client portfolio.
Your Impact
Compliance & Reporting
Financial Preparation: Process client books to trial balance stage in Xero/MYOB and prepare financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs).
Taxation: Manage the end-to-end preparation of individual and entity tax returns, including the calculation and lodgement of BAS and IAS.
Quality Standards: Maintain bulletproof audit trails by preparing workpapers to a review-ready standard using ActivWorkpaper.
SMSF & Corporate Secretarial: Provide specialized SMSF administration support via Class and manage ASIC corporate compliance through NowInfinity.
Complex Tax & Advisory
Technical Calculations: Handle complex Capital Gains Tax (CGT) calculations, trust distributions, and Division 7A loan management (including UPE tracking and repayment schedules).
Fringe Benefits: Prepare and report Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), including car benefits and employee allowances.
Research & Liaison: Research technical tax issues and manage ATO correspondence or audits when required.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for software automation and process optimization to improve overall firm efficiency.
What You Bring
The Experience: Minimum of 5 years of total accounting experience, with at least 3 years specifically dedicated to Australian tax accounting. Experience working within an AU public practice environment is strongly preferred.
The Credentials: A Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or Accounting Technology. You are a licensed CPA (or in the final stages of your CA/CPA certification).
Technical Mastery: Deep, practical working knowledge of Australian tax law (Income Tax, GST, FBT, Div 7A, CGT, and trust distributions).
Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience navigating Xero (certification preferred), MYOB, Class, and NowInfinity.
The Mindset: An analytical thinker who works comfortably without "hand-holding", exercises sound independent judgment, and possesses the clear potential to grow into a leadership role as the firm scales.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal English skills, with the clarity needed to handle direct client communication.
