As a NZ Senior Tax Accountant, you'll take the lead on a wide and varied portfolio of clients — from SMEs and trusts to partnerships and companies spanning multiple industry sectors. Working within a dynamic virtual team or on permanent placement, you'll bring your deep knowledge of New Zealand tax legislation to life, delivering high-quality financial statements, tax returns, and advisory services that genuinely make a difference to the businesses you serve.

Your Impact
Tax Guru in Action: Prepare accurate and compliant tax returns, activity statements, and lodgements for companies, partnerships, trusts, and individual businesses — including complex large groups and inter-entity reconciliations.
Numbers That Tell Stories: Prepare detailed work papers, reconciliations, and financial statements that bring clarity and confidence to clients at every stage of their financial journey.
Advisory Ace: Assist clients with tax planning, GST, and bookkeeping, while delivering business advisory projects including budgets, cashflows, and management reporting.
Compliance Champion: Ensure all documentation, work papers, and client files are maintained to the highest standard in line with Findex Group compliance requirements.
NZ Tax Navigator: Stay sharp on the latest New Zealand tax rules and apply your thorough understanding of legislation — including GST, FBT, and the Companies Act — to every engagement.
What You Bring
Credentials That Count: An accounting degree or related qualification with a major in accounting, plus a completed or in-progress CA/CPA designation.
Battle-Tested Experience: At least 5 years of proven accounting and taxation experience within a New Zealand context, giving you the technical depth to handle complex client portfolios with confidence.
Legislation Literacy: A thorough understanding of New Zealand taxation legislation — including GST, FBT, and the Companies Act — that you can apply with precision and accuracy.
Tech-Savvy Toolkit: Hands-on experience with MYOB, Xero, Reckon, QuickBooks, and Excel; familiarity with Reckon APS is a welcome bonus.
Sharp Commercial Mind: Strong commercial acumen paired with sound technical accounting and analytical skills, enabling you to identify issues and communicate solutions clearly and efficiently.
Communication Powerhouse: Proficient written and verbal English skills, with excellent relationship and stakeholder management capabilities that build trust and long-term partnerships.
Detail-Driven Deliverer: Exceptional attention to detail, strong workload prioritisation, and the ability to consistently meet productivity and turnaround metrics without missing a beat.
